Best Finals Ever! - A memorable moment at KPTM Ipoh

In my first semester at KPTM Ipoh, me and two of my friends had to produce a storyboard animatics of a short story written by us as our final project for storyboarding subject (CAV1033). BEST. FINALS. EVER.

You might be wandering, Nik, is a final project assignment really a memorable moment for you? ABSOLUTELY. This may be work but it was mostly like me doing this as a hobby.

 On the 7th of February, our lecturer, Sir Syafiq Harons, briefed the assignment for his subject’s final project for the first time. For this task, first we need to write our story then draw the storyboards and turn it into an animatic video. We also need to prepare a document regarding our process throughout this project. Lastly, we also need to make a presentation on it. We need to work in a group of three so, in our group there’s me, Ariffin Jamal Fadzalah and Sabrina Mohd Noor.

For easier task management we distributed works for each other. Ariffin handles the character building, which revolves around the personality of our characters, physically and internally. He also compiled the document for this assignment. Sabrina on the other hand, writes the script and prepares our presentation slide. For me, I write our story, draw the storyboard and prepare the animatic video. This might be a lot but I was excited doing every single task since I haven’t drawn and done creative projects like this for the longest time back then ever since I graduated secondary school.

Realistically, this was no easy task. The story was changed three times total. This was due to the stories not fitting with the theme set by Sir Syafiq. We also took too much time in each of our tasks, overdoing everything for this assignment we even almost missed the deadline. However, all of the hardship paid off for the final product. I was satisfied with what we came out with because this project will be one of our stepping stones in chasing our dream career in animation soon in the future. Truly, one of my memorable and important moments here at KPTM Ipoh.
