An in depth review on Megamind’s plot

Megamind. This 2010 American animated movie was produced by Dreamworks and directed by Tom Mcgrath. The film tells the story of Megamind, an evil genius from a different planet in finding his purpose after successfully defeated (or did he?) his sworn enemy, Metroman, a superman-like superhero character.

The story have a concreate message, destiny isn’t the path chosen for us but the path we chose for ourselves. This shows as our main protagonist, Megamind who was raised in jail, marginalized at school where he had the thought that he was born to be the bad guy. However, after he allegedly killed Metroman, he started become lonely and questioning his purpose. Ultimately, he decided to create a hero based off Metroman’s power and accidently gave the superpower to a random guy, what could go wrong? The plan back fired and now Titan, the new “hero” becomes the villain.

Soon after, Megamind begin to think he’s not destined to be the bad guy anymore and changed his mind to be the good guy instead. He realizes that destiny is not the path that is predetermined by outside factors or one’s surroundings but by the person in question.

To conclude, we could see the perspective of a villain who’s given the chance to be the good man he truly is. Megamind tells the story of change, determination, and choices we have.
